- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆I am a real estate investor. Gabe wrote insurance for several properties I owned from June of 2014 through March of 2017. I always pay the full annual premium for property insurance up-front. I did this with Gabe as well; paid all annual premiums in full up-front. I was surprised to keep receiving statements from Farmers saying I owed various balances, so I sent copies of the statements as I received them to Gabe. He said "don't worry about it". Then, last year, I was charged $1,400 more than what he had quoted me for coverage on my properties. I inquired with him. Gabe suddenly became extremely difficult to reach. I finally got fed up and changed all my insurance to another provider. A couple weeks later, I received a bill for $171.30, which included late fees. I called Gabe 3 times, left 2 voicemails, texted him twice, emailed him twice, and eventually contacted the district manager's office to try and find out what the bill was for exactly. After months of waiting for an explanation (and 2 follow up calls to the DM's office), I received a letter from collections. Still, no one was able to answer my very simple question: what is this bill for? Long story short (or at least, shorter), a Farmer's rep in their Commercial Billing office finally provided me with a full breakdown detailing all balances vs payments received. It seems Gabe was accepting my full annual premium payments up-front, holding it himself, and periodically paying that money towards the bills. However, it seems he didn't always pay the bills on time, and now I'm stuck with a final due balance on coverage I had already paid for in full. This ridiculous experience with Gabe Johnson at Farmer's has, at the very least, been completely unprofessional and border-line actionable.By Allan Johnson, August 29, 2017
